Chef and owner of The Bathers Pavilion Café and Restaurant is the famous Canadian-Australian Serge Dansereau who’s well respected and know Sydney wide. His achievements speak for themselves and his numerous awards shine brightly on his resume. Not that he needs one or even an introduction. His fresh and innovative ideas translate into fanciful dishes.
The iconic, heritage listed building of The Bathers Pavilion is the crown jewel of Balmoral Beach. Dining here means breathtakingly stunning beachfront, sparkling blue waters and moonshine at night and that’s just the view. The restaurant is elegant, clean but soft and inviting at the same time. Beautifully placed and lit candles will make you swoon even if not on a date.
It’s definitely hard to choose from the exiting menu, all the dishes sound elegant and sophisticated. The snow white grilled kingfish arrives on a bed of corn, pickled wakame and ricotta surrounded by little pearls of chicken tapioca. Light, slightly smoky creation; a delicate start to your culinary journey. Perfectly pink and plump duck breast is accompanied by almond, cranberries and dandelion leaf but the smoked eel cream is what makes this dish the start of the evening. Superior flavour combination, contrasting textures, stunning presentation – the only way duck should be eaten.
Next door to the restaurant is the always-buzzing café with a great breakfast menu that’s available 7 days a week. More affordable so you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to visit this iconic venue.
