For the second year, the Courrier Australien Friends Inc. is organising a readers’ prize to reward French citizens in Australia who have distinguished themselves in a particular field.
The aim of the “Prix des Français.es en Australie” is to honour French citizens who have recently arrived in Australia, or who have been living here for a long time, and whose commitment and talents contribute to the influence of France throughout Australia.
Voting for the “French Citizen of the Year Award” opens on Tuesday 20 September 2022.
With almost 60 entries, the nomination phase was a great success. Readers of Le Courrier Australien have nominated many French people in Australia who have distinguished themselves in the fields of solidarity, entrepreneurship, research & innovation, sport & culture and sustainable development.
Note the creation of a “Special Prize for French Women in Australia” to reward women who have distinguished themselves in Australia in terms of their entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, determination or commitment (social, sporting, personal or professional).
“We were delighted to see how enthusiastically the nominations were received. The large number of applications and the variety of profiles show that the French are very involved in all areas of life in Australia. The French community in Australia is full of exceptional talent, but too often remains anonymous. With this competition, we will be able to give visibility to these people and make them known to the general public in Australia but also in France where we also have many readers”, said François Vantomme, Director of the Courrier Australien.
This 2022 edition was superb, with the support of invaluable partners who share our values and a gala evening at Sydney’s Sofitel Wentworth on Wednesday 19 October to present the Awards to the various winners.
We would like to congratulate the various winners of the French Person of the Year 2022, the many talented, often anonymous people who deserve our full recognition and who represent the present and future of this wonderful Franco-Australian relationship.
Audrey Morisseau, Cédric Buche, Maïtena Hernandez, Mylène Turban and Laure Legros and finally Elodie and Guillaume Amiot.
We’ll be publishing portraits of our 2022 winners very soon! Stay tune
