From February 15 to March 3, Jérémie Queyras stops off in Perth to present his work at the crossroads of disciplines and inspirations. “Phonescapes” questions the role of painting in an age of instant digital consumption.
With origins in France, Germany, and Canada, young emerging artist Jérémie Queyras has never ceased cultivating the multiplicity and richness of these experiences. A 2019 graduate of Art Academy London, where he studied figurative painting with renowned artists, he earned four years later a Master of Fine Arts in Transdisciplinary New Media at Paris College of Art.
In 2021, Jérémie Queyras won first prize in the Goodmesh Competition in Amsterdam with Charlotte Spruit for their project “Echoes From the Future”, combining sound and performance art.
Having worked with music, poetry, and philosophy, the artist is now applying his versatility to the theme of new technologies and their impact on our lifestyles.

With the “Phonescapes” exhibition, his works transform the transient digital images of smartphones and social networks into enduring oil paintings, redefining contemporary art’s relationship with photography and online platforms.
With this project, Jérémie Queyras aims to breathe new life into these ephemeral moments, converting them into tangible paintings that require presence and reflection. In so doing, he questions the notion of deliberate attention in the age of instant digital consumption and the intrinsic value of images in our lives.
