Key points from NSW Health for 7 October 2021

  • NSW has now reached our 70% double dose vaccination milestone and administered more than 10.5 million doses in NSW! This is a remarkable achievement!
  • There were 587 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly, 8 people have died.
  • Please continue to come forward for testing, even if you have mild symptoms. There are more than 500 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW.
  • If you do have COVID, there are excellent treatments and care available to you.
  • We have seen rising cases in West Tamworth, Berkeley, Belmore, Maroubra and remain concerned about areas with large case numbers, including Auburn, Punchbowl, Lakemba, Blacktown, Mount Druitt and Fairfield.
  • We are also concerned about regional areas with positive sewage detection, including Lightning Ridge, Ballina, Uralla, Bodalla, Bega and Merimbula. Please be particularly vigilant for symptoms.
  • From Monday 11 October, fully vaccinated adults in NSW will be able to:
    • Up to 10 visitors will be allowed in a home where all adults are vaccinated (previously 5). This does not include children 12 and under.
    • Up to 30 people can gather in outdoor settings (previously 20).
    • Up to 100 people can attend weddings and funerals 100 people (previously 50).
  • Other changes to the roadmap include:
    • All children will return to school by 25 October (previously 1 November).
    • From Monday 11 October, indoor swimming pools can reopen for swimming lessons, squad training, lap swimming, and rehab activities.
    • From Monday 11 October, Local Government Areas of concern will no longer exist.
  • Please note that other restrictions are still in place. Please make sure you know the rules in your areahttps://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/rules
  • Thank you for coming out to get vaccinated. It is fantastic that NSW has achieved our 70% target. Our challenge now is to reach over 90% to ensure NSW is among the safest places in the world.
