Sydney French Open – this weekend to support Redkite
and children with cancer from New Caledonia – free entry

30 September & 1 October at Eastcourts Tennis Club, 1 Court Avenue, Kingsford

The Sydney French Open returns this weekend and is open to anyone who can hold a racquet, in support of Redkite and children with cancer from New Caledonia and their families, who need to relocate to Australia for long term treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead – come along and join in the fun.

The action takes place at Eastcourts Tennis Club in Kingsford, with four draws – Men, Women, Juniors (11-13 and 14-17 years old) and Doubles. Entry is free for spectators.

Now in its tenth year, the Sydney French Open is organised by Redkite, together with a voluntary committee led by Olivier Marie and Aymeric Cabuil, with BNP Paribas as the main sponsor.

“This event is a wonderful tradition, where the community comes together for a fun weekend of tennis and raises funds for a wonderful cause. The proceeds go towards supporting New Caledonian children with cancer who need to move to Sydney with their families for extended periods, whilst undergoing treatment at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead,” says Tatiana Isaacs, Redkite’s General Manager of Fundraising.

“Relocating for treatment places an enormous financial and emotional burden on these families and Redkite is there to support them with emotional, financial and practical support during their stay in Australia.

“We are so grateful to BNP Paribas for its sponsorship of this event and for its broader support for Redkite and our projects through staff fundraising events and donations throughout the year,” she says.

The Sydney French Open is a fun weekend for all the family and entry is free for spectators – Singles matches are on Saturday 30 September and the Finals and Doubles are on Sunday 1 October. Any Singles player who loses early can join the Doubles round on the Sunday, free of charge.

“Redkite does an amazing job supporting these children from New Caledonia during their cancer journey, whilst having treatment in Sydney,” says Karine Delvallée, CEO, BNP Paribas, Australia and New Zealand.

“We are so proud of the support that we offer this wonderful cause and encourage the community to get behind this event and help raise funds, so that Redkite can continue its work with these families who need to spend so much time away from home.

“You can also bid for wonderful prizes through the Silent Auction – all funds go towards this important cause.”
