Anzac Day commemorations will take place on Monday 25 April at the Australian War Memorial’s Sculpture Garden, marking the 107th anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli. This Anzac Day also marks the 80th anniversary of Anzac Day commemorations at the Memorial.
This year’s commemorative program will include:
5.30 am Dawn Service
9.30 am RSL (ACT Branch) Veterans’ March
4.45 pm Last Post Ceremony.
The Dawn Service and Veterans’ March will take place in the Sculpture Garden, in the western grounds of the Memorial precinct. Both the Dawn Service and RSL (ACT Branch) Veterans’ March are unticketed events. Following the Veterans’ March, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia will deliver an Anzac Day address to the nation from the Memorial’s Commemorative Area. This address will be televised and livestreamed by the ABC and will appear on large screens for public viewing in the Memorial’s western grounds.
Members of the public will be able to lay a tribute or wreath at the Stone of Remembrance in the Captain Reg Saunders Courtyard after the Dawn Service or throughout the day.
Transport ACT will be running free shuttle buses to the Memorial from various locations on Anzac Day. For further information please visit https://www.transport.act.gov.au/.
There will be limited seating and limited parking available at the Memorial. People are encouraged to review information on the Memorial’s website to plan their attendance. Visitors attending the commemorations will be required to check-in via the ACT Health Check-in CBR app.
The Memorial galleries will be closed to the public on the morning of Anzac Day and will open at 12 pm. All visitors will require a free timed ticket to enter the Memorial galleries. Capacity is limited; visitors are advised to book their free gallery ticket in advance to avoid disappointment. The ticket allocation for the Last Post Ceremony has already been exhausted and tickets for visits to the Memorial’s galleries may book out prior to Anzac Day.
The Dawn Service and Veteran’s March will be broadcast online and live across Australia by the ABC. The Last Post Ceremony will take place on the evening of Anzac Day and can be viewed live via the Memorial’s Facebook page.
